Water FACTS and FAQs

Question 1 : Is Water dangerous?

Answer 1: Yes. Water is composed of Hydrogen and Oxygen, which are used together as rocket fuel. Enough cannot be said about the volatile nature of this chemical.

Answer 2: Yes. Numerous scientific studies have shown that every creature on earth contains water, and almost every creature imbibes more during its life, invariably tries to get more, and inevitably dies. Although it is not regulated by the FDA, other studies have demonstrated that it is addictive, and suggests a genetic link since the addiction appears to run in families. Unlike many other addictions, water abuse is believed to affect all sections of society, rich and poor alike.

Answer 3: Yes. Every year thousands of American slip and fall on ice ( one of a number of solid forms of water) causing grievous injuries and sometimes death. Who in Minnesota does not know someone who had a life-threatening mishap attributable to the solid form of water ? Countless thousands more are burned by scalding water including other products that include scalding water without proper labeling (e.g. McDonald's coffee). In 1999 thousands of Americans drowned and in the past year alone, thousands more families in California, Texas, Missouri, Georgia, and North Carolina lost their homes due to water contamination. Water is truly a dangerous substance.

Answer 4: Yes. Water is really just a slang term for the chemical dihydrogen monoxide (also known as hydric acid) which presents numerous public and environmental health risks. Our polluted lakes, rivers, and oceans are known to contain vast quantities of dihydrogen monoxide. Contaminated ground water? Same tragic situation. Question 2: Is Question 1 a bunch of bunk ?

Answer 1: Absolutely not.

Answer 2: Of course. According to unconfirmed Internet sources it started when a freshman at Eagle Rock Junior High won first prize at the Greater Idaho Falls Science Fair, April 26. He was attempting to show how conditioned we have become to the alarmists practicing junk science and spreading fear of everything in our environment. In his project he urged people to sign a petition demanding strict control or total elimination of the chemical "dihydrogen monoxide." And for plenty of good reasons, since it can:

1. cause excessive sweating and throwing up
2. it is a major component in acid rain
3. it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state
4. accidental inhalation can kill you
5. it contributes to erosion
6. it decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes
7. it has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients

He asked 50 people if they supported a ban of the chemical. Supposedly, 43 said yes, 6 were undecided, and only 1 knew that the chemical was water. The title of his prize winning project was, "How Gullible Are We?" Supplemental Information may be found at http://www.dhmo.org . The actual Material Safety Data Sheet for dihydrogen monoxide is in PDF format.
